West Jersey baseball: Stateliners rally past Streaks

Outstanding third baseman Mike Murray went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and Phillipsburg used a four-run sixth inning to rally for an 8-5 win over Warren Hills in a Skyland Conference non-divisional matchup on Monday at the Phillipsburg Athletic Complex.

Phillipsburg (6-4), which split a pair of games with Warren Hills last season, has scored six or more runs seven times this season. Ryan Luke and Robert Howell each scored three times in this one and Sean Corman (3-0) was the winning pitcher.

Warren Hills (4-4) hosts another Hunterdon County rival on Tuesday when it takes on unbeaten Voorhees (6-0) at Joseph Steinhardt Field in Washington.

Here is the rest of Monday's action:

Pope John 16, Mount Olive 4 -- Matt Ackerman was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs and winning pitcher Connor McGlynn improved to 2-0 for the Lions (7-1). Alex DeBellis was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Brendan Mayers belted a two-run homer in the win.

Wallkill Valley 9, Kittatinny 8 -- Mike Berado's RBI double in the bottom of the seventh gave Wallkill Valley a walk-off victory in Hardyston. Tyler Grabkowski went 3-for-4 and Ian Endres was 2-for-4 for the Rangers (4-8), who avenged a 4-3 loss to Kittatinny on April 4.

Cory Zervas was 4-for-4 and both Dan Chrernati and David Coombs had three hits for the Cougars (1-8), who have lost eight straight since beating Wallkill in their opener.
