Field hockey: HWS Tournament pairings, seeds

The 11th annual Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex Tournament gets underway on Saturday with nine first-round games.

Here's is this year's complete schedule:

Top seed Warren Hills seeks its seventh HWS title.

Prelims on Saturday at the higher seeds, with the winners advancing to the six pre-quarterfinal round contests on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the higher seeds. The quarterfinals are slated for Monday, Oct. 7 at the higher seeds with the semifinals to be played on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The championship game will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 on the turf at Hackettstown's Morrison Field. Hackettstown won its first HWS title last year with a thrilling 2-1 victory in overtime against Warren Hills at Newton High School.

The last two HWS champions met on Saturday, with Warren Hills rolling to a 5-0 win over Hackettstown at Morrison Field.

The top two seeds received byes into the quarterfinals. Records are through Wednesday's games.
