Chris Fiaschetti went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs to lead Delaware Valley to a 5-2 win over Voorhees on Monday in Skyland Conference Raritan Division action in Lebanon Township. Starting pitcher Logan Brown struck out five for the Terriers (1-0, 1-0). Tyler Kroll went 2-for-4 and losing pitcher Matt Furka struck out three for the Vikings (0-1, 0-1), who had won six straight meetings in the series dating to 2011.
Warren Hills 2, Somerville 0 -- Anthony Veneziano belted a solo home run and winning pitcher Nathaniel Capone went the distance with three strikeouts to lead the Blue Streaks (1-0, 1-0), who avenged an 11-8 loss to the Pioneers (0-1, 0-1) in last year's opener. It was Capone's second career shutout and first since a 4-0 win over Hopatcong in the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex prelims on April 24, 2013.
Montgomery 6, Phillipsburg 5 -- Tyler Plesnarski belted an RBI double and Matt McAnally and Jake Clifford also had RBI hits for the Stateliners (0-1, 0-1) in a Delaware Division matchup. Plesnarski also have five strikeouts on the mound.
Belvidere 10, Bound Brook 3 -- Logan Welles had a double and two RBIs and Owen Kaiser drove in three runs to pace the County Seaters (1-0, 1-0). Winning pitcher David Woodworth struck out eight and walked four in the complete-game effort -- his second career win.
South Hunterdon 5, Manville 4 -- Nick Scamuffa drove in three runs and Jimmy Smiegocki struck out five in 4 1/3 innings of a no-decision for the Eagles (1-0, 1-0). Jayck Lopez struck out seven in 2 2/3 innings to earn the win in relief.
