Wrestling: Braves, Streaks set for Jack Welch Duals

Here are the pairings and seeds for the 13th annual Jack Welch Duals to be held Friday and Saturday at Moorestown High School.

Wrestling begins on Friday at 4:30 p.m., with the second round to follow at 6:30. Action resumes at 11 a.m. on Saturday with rounds to follow at 1 and 3 p.m.

Newton (5-4), ranked No. 6 in the Open Mike area, and No. 7 Warren Hills (11-1) are the only local teams in the tournament.

The Braves, who are sitting on 798 wins as a program under veteran coach Eric Bollette, have finished second twice in 10 prior appearances, while the Blue Streaks are making their second appearance at the Jack Welch Duals.

As the Nos. 5 and 4 seeds, the locals will meet in their third matches. The rivalry renewed for the first time in 25 years in 2015, and Newton, which has a 30-16-2 lead in the all-time series dating to 1940, had dropped three in a row to Warren Hills since '15 before a 55-13 win here last season.

This year's event also features No. 1 seed and defending Group 5 champion Howell (5-2), ranked No. 3 in the New Jersey Writers Association Top 20.
