Pairings and seeds for the District 9 Tournament on Saturday at Phillipsburg High School.
Preliminaries and quarterfinals will begin on three mats at 9:30 a.m., followed by the semifinals on two mats at 1 p.m. Third-place consolations are set for 3, with the championship finals to follow at 4:30.
Phillipsburg senior Brian Meyer, who is the top seed at 152 pounds, is among seven returning champions. Cullen Day (113), Travis Jones (120) and Cody Harrison (138) also won for the Stateliners in 2017. Meyer (29-2) is looking to become just the eighth P'burg wrestler to win four district titles, while Harrison (26-3) is a two-time champion.
Hackettstown senior Alex Carida (145), along with Caldwell sophomore Alex Jones (132) and senior Gerald Jones (152), won titles in '17.
The top three finishers at each weight class advance to the Region 3 Tournament at West Orange High School that is slated to begin on Wednesday.
