Pairings and seeds for the NJSIAA District 1 Tournament will be finalized during a meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Warren Hills Regional High School, this year's host site.
There are eight former champions in this year's field -- including two from 2011. Tyler Kozimor of Hackettstown (2010-11) and Nick Matthews of West Morris (2011-12) are attempting to become three-time champions.
The 2012 winners returning are: Phillipsburg's Zach Fisher, Steve Friedman and Andrew Kaluzny; Warren Hills' Joe Kratochvil and Belvidere's Evan Bray. North Warren's Matt Ritchie won a title in 2011.
Wrestling begins at 5:30 p.m., on Friday with the quarterfinals. Action continues at 11 a.m., Saturday with the semifinals, followed by third-place consolations at 2 p.m. (one mat) and the championship finals to follow at 4. The top three finishers at each weight class advance to the Region 1 Tournament at Wallkill Valley.
Here is a look at the pre-seeds for each weigh class. Only head-to-head results will change seeds, otherwise strictly points (which are also unofficial until Wednesday night) will determine where wrestlers are placed in their respective weight classes.

8-Fr. Alan Anagnostos (5-17), Mount Olive
Note: Nothing changes here. Fisher has a double-loss to Nauta, a runner-up last year, while Luciano also lost to Nauta. Renne's 4-3 win over Mendham's Vince Pallone, 4-3, gave him big points. Pallone was a state qualifier in 2011.

8-So. Erick Matos (2-18), Mount Olive
Note: Matthews owns wins over Bundschuh (3-2), Ryzoff, Dombrosky and Atencio. He's locked in at No. 1. Here's where it gets funky. Dombrosky pinned Ryzoff, so he would jump to 2. Bundschuh beat Dombrosky so he moves to 2 and Dombrosky to 3. But Elling, a runner-up last year, pinned Bundschuh so he jumps to 2, Bundschuh to 3 and Dombrosky goes to 4. Ryzoff is 5 after all of that movement.
145 pounds
1-Sr. Jesse Thorsen (25-2), Belvidere
2-Sr. Brandon Carcuffe (28-6), West Morris

Kaluzny dropped Kozimor, 5-4, in a highly controversial semifinal matchup. Carcuffe, lost to Thorsen, 7-3. So, it goes 1-Thorsen, 2-Carcuffe, 3-Kaluzny and 4-Kozimor. Tough weight with a Region 1 champ as the No. 4 seed. Kozimor is two wins shy of 100 for his career.

7-Sr. Eddie Dulio (11-20), Hackettstown
8-Sr. Mike Fusaro (3-8), Mendham
Note: Butka has a double-loss to Schuitema, who was a third-place finisher last season. Sears beat Kane, 7-4, so they'll swap spots at 5 and 6. That's all here.
160 pounds
1-Jr. Sam Button (27-5), Mendham

7-Jr. Raymond Katz (6-8), Mendham
8-Jr. Rafael Garcia (1-28), Hackettstown
Note: Kratch beat Colabella, 11-6, and Ostir, 10-0. Bupivi beat Ostir, 9-0. So Bupivi and Ostir trade spots. That's all here.
182 pounds
1-Sr. Evan Bray (23-5), Belvidere
2-Jr. Steve Cleaver (18-13), Warren Hills
3-Sr. Nick Scheuplein (12-11), Mount Olive

7-So. Alec Skaltsis (5-20), Mendham
8-No entry, Hackettstown
Note: Bray, a Region 1 champion last season, has wins over Nos. 3, 4 and 5. Cleaver and Maso have split, with Maso getting the most recent win -- a pin in the dual meet. That will jump the Stateliner up to No. 2 and make Cleaver, who also beat Frumolt and Cammalleri, No. 3.
195 pounds
1-Jr. Jesse Windt (27-7), West Morris
2-Jr. Ryan Witner (15-16), Warren Hills
3-Sr. Andrew Trejo (17-13), Mount Olive

6-So. Tim Hinkle (15-14), Phillipsburg
7-Sr. Mike Farrell (13-7), Belvidere
8-Sr. Bruce Gurnowski (14-14), Hackettstown
Note: Windt owns wins over Witner, Trejo, Conte, Galante and Gurnowski. Conte beat Trejo, 5-2 so they will flip-flop. Farrell decked Galante, while Witner beat Hinkle, 7-3. Farrell will jump to 5, Galante drops to 6 and Hinkle is 7, setting up an interesting rematch with Witner on Friday night. Trejo-Farrell will be the 5-4 matchup -- Trejo won, 6-2, in their last meeting. Witner beat Farrell, 5-4, in December.
220 pounds

6-So. Aaron Flitcroft (9-4), Mendham
7-So. Theodore Gurnowski (8-11), Hackettstown
8-No entry, West Morris
Note: Lawson beat Andrich, 5-2, on Feb. 2. Nothing changes here.
285 pounds
1-Sr. Ryan Appleby (24-3), Belvidere

6-Sr. Scott DeBoey (10-13), West Morris
7-So. Colin Mayer (8-16), North Warren
8-Sr. Miguel Garcia (3-7), Hackettstown
Note: Appleby beat Pacheco, 13-7, while Williams beat Appleby, 7-5, in sudden victory in the HWS semifinals. Pacheco owns two wins over Williams -- so that round robin is thrown out of the seeding equation. Appleby, who was third here last year, pinned Martinez in 35 seconds. Martinez decked Fox in December. The pre-seeds hold here.
