Caserta also lost to Bergen Catholic super freshman Nick Suriano, 11-2, and Delbarton’s Ty Agaisse, 5-1. Paetzell lost, 1-0, to Agaisse a few weeks ago. O’Shea (19-1) has one loss to Caserta, 8-6, in sudden victory.

Notes: Nauta beat Fisher, 4-2 in sudden victory on Thursday in a rematch of their Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex final, won by Nauta, 16-2. Damon (23-0) keeps rolling along, posting an impressive 11-2 major of Silva on Tuesday. Big news as Vindici, who was seventh in the state last year at 106, dropped to 113 on Thursday. It was his first time down, so we'll see if he stays here. Tough call, but he's at No. 4 for this week. This is not a deep weight overall, but this is a solid top five.

Fleming (17-3) also decked Lipari and beat North Warren’s Matt Ritchie, 6-5. Jefferson’s Matt Tripodi, who is unranked here, bumped up and scored a nice 7-5 win over Sparta’s Ian Burke at 126. Kobis beat Roxbury’s Devon LaFranco, 5-0, on Saturday. Friedman rallied to beat Adetula, 5-4, on Thursday. He's back in at No. 5.

Notes: Kratochvil beat Zinsmeister, 7-5, on Thursday. It was his second win over the P’burg wrestler. Kratochvil lost for the second time to Delaware Valley’s Matt Gilmore – 3-2 – on Wednesday. The Blue Streak also bumped to 132 and earned a 2-1 win in overtime against ranked David Migliaccio of West Morris. Zinsmeister was battling Hunterdon Central’s Dylan Nace tooth and nail when he was pinned on Wednesday. Burke lost, 7-5 to Jefferson’s Matt Tripodi. Scrivani was pinned by Watchung Hills state champ Mike Magaldo on Saturday.

Migliaccio owns a 7-2 win over Legotte. But hold on. Mendham’s Eric Friedman (16-4), who was unranked, beat Migliaccio, 3-1, in sudden victory on Tuesday. It’s a mess, frankly. Derin, third in Region 1 last year, could very well be the best one here by season’s end, but he hasn’t done anything this year to get him in the rankings as of this week. Legotte is out since he hasn’t beaten anyone ranked here.

Keeping a watchful eye on Hackettstown’s Brandon Rothman, who recently lost, 3-1, to Murphy. Rothman wrestled for the first time at 132 on Saturday.

Notes: Not much to report here. Gaccione avenged last year’s region loss to Roxbury’s Jonathan Patane, 8-5, on Saturday. Romyns scored a nice 6-4 win over Watchung Hills’ Anthony DiRosa on Saturday. I tell you, looking at the common opponents you realize how close in talent this group is. And West Morris’ Brandon Carcuffe (18-1) is still on the outside looking in. His only loss is to North Hunterdon’s Mike Ciavarro in ultimate tiebreaker.

Would’ve liked to see him go at it with Hooker a few weeks ago in a dual meet, but Hooker was out of the lineup. They do have a common opponent in Roxbury’s Stephen Satmaria. Drugac won, 2-1, on Dec. 22. Hooker beat Satmaria, 9-3, on Saturday. Bohn pinned Luke  Drugac on Saturday.

Notes: Some developments here. Kratch, who was unranked, knocked off Mendham’s Tim Byrne, 4-2, and Lenape Valley’s D.J. Barrett, 4-3, in the span of two nights. Kratch, who has spent time at 182, is unbeaten at 170. He also majored Warren Hills’ Ryan Ostir, 10-0, on Saturday. Bupivi beat Ostir, 9-0, on Thursday. Byrne is out after getting pinned by Mount Olive’s Anthony Colabella on Saturday.

Sibblies bumped to 195 and decked Roxbury’s Peter Sutton on Thursday. Brook was back at 195, where he pinned and received two forfeits.

Notes: One change at the top with 1-2. Stoll jumps Landberg based on a head-to-head with Bergen Catholic's Christian Jenco. Stoll beat Jenco, 10-3, on Saturday. Jenco pinned Landberg on Jan. 11. Landberg also had a close shave with Lakeland's Jon Fazio in an 8-5 win in overtime. Fazio stays out for now. Wunder, who weighs around 170, has floated around this season. He had two wins at 170 and two at 182 this past week. Windt, who was solid here, was decked by Lenape Valley’s Kristian Barrett on Thursday, but has a good body of work. Barrett was in the rankings until a disappointing showing at Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex. Newton’s Gus Protogeropoulos, who is having a nice season, is out based on an 8-3 loss to Windt. He did not wrestle Barrett at HWS. Phillipsburg’s Kyle Kinney, who injured his elbow on Wednesday and is out indefinitely, will drop out here until he returns to action. He beat Barrett, 6-2, at HWS.

Notes: No changes here. Armstrong registered four pins this past week. McDonnell also had four pins. Levine has 13 wins, including 10 pins this season. Andrich (22-1) hasn’t met up with any of these guys this season. He had four pins last week, including one against Lakeland heavyweight Brendon Narbone.

It was just days after Pacheco won a 12-10 decision in the ultimate tiebreaker for his first county title. The two athletic big men are quite the entertainers on the mat. Appleby was in the stands on Thursday watching. Wonder what he thought of the action? Can’t wait to see all three guys battle it out at Warren Hills in the District 1 Tournament.
